Honestly, your meditation experience sounds more like an altered state induced by the meditation, rather than confirmation of what non-aphantasiacs experience on a daily basis. And I'm jealous you had that experience.

> I can draw things I imagine, even though I can't see them. This is what I mean though. What do you mean by "see" exactly, if not imagine? You can imagine something so clearly that you are able to replicate it on paper, y

I really wish I could occupy your brain for a few minutes to see just how much of this is language. There's an amazing effect in this conversation where I remain convinced that basically everything I've heard could come down to de

It's hard to describe. I think there's more nuance here. When you ask "What colour was the apple?" then I can "fill in" the colour and imagine a "red" one. But it's more like the details are fill

My gut feel has always been that it is just a language thing where some people think that when others imagine things that they literally see it right in front of them _the same way_ they see real things. Like, when I imagine a scene or obje

Jumping on this thread to also highlight my main NY Times Games gripe: the Wordle keyboard will double register the same letter if you tap a neighbouring letter straight after. It's like the tap target area grows briefly after tapping

Are you two using ChatGPT to generate these, or are you both fantastic at emulating the writing style? Because this is so spot on.

I agree with The Verge here in that it is probably using a diffusion model somewhere, and that it is splitting hairs to say that it is not generative AI. The artifacts are very "diffusion".

I've been really tempted to drop out of Spotify and start buying CDs from my local music shop instead. Then I can get a USB CD reader and start building my own little music collection. In the pursuit of keeping "up to date" a

Reactive programming (such as with RxJS [0]) can be a good solution to this, since they provide primitives that understand time-based dependencies. [0]: https://rxjs.dev/api/index/function/switchMap

This highlights I think what is an ultimate pitfall of something like Lean. It is something like this: when an assumption is broken or violated in mathematics, the whole field of mathematics can _grow_. Non-euclidean geometry, imaginary num

I think we lack the primitives to understand and discuss messy complicated real world frontends. Something about UI state and its coupling to servers, plus time, plus Conway's Law, causes a real messy situation that appears to be much

Tryhard cringe for us, but likely very funny and edgy to, say, 5-10 year olds. It wouldn’t surprise me if there wasn’t an attempt to center Oatly for coming generations as an investment.

The cattle doesn't have to _be_ on the same wasted land that is used to feed it. Soy is imported from other countries to feed cattle in the UK (around 2M tons of soy per year[0]). It is a common and convenient misconception that raisin
