I find it interesting that everyone so far has suggested JSON as a pickle alternative. Depending on why you are serializing and deserializing the data, a lot of times the true replacement for pickle is a full-fledged database.

I am using java.time.Clock class in Java - really similar to what’s mentioned for Go in the article! It works great and enables us to write reliable, comprehensive, reproduce-able unit tests.

If amplification is really a “thing”, I would encourage you to take a look at Trump’s social media accounts. Most of the posts that show up underneath (replies) are people critical of him. The free advertising he gets across social media, c

On my last team that would result in a JIRA ticket containing the details so approach Y was documented and the reasons behind it were recorded. Then the ticket is assigned to Person X and they go ahead with the work.

What’s wrong with a corporate death sentence in the event of such egregious mistakes? There must be a severe enough punishment in order for a company’s risk department to take things seriously.

I know you’re downvoted for saying something that’s basically unethical, but I’m interested: how do you propose to buy a home using this strategy? All cash? In my area, I’d need around $200,000 cash. I know there’s trailer parks and etc. bu

OCaml and Reason are beautiful languages. I actually applied to Jane Street hoping for a chance to use them more, but they weren’t interested in my resume. Is there a list of OCaml/Haskell/etc companies out there for us functional

If you use a pull request workflow then at the very least, you're forced to merge master into your branch (if there are conflicts) before merging your branch into master. You should never (not even rarely) resolve merge conflicts on ma

The author of this tool should use history.replaceState instead of history.pushState. Otherwise the way the page saves state using the HTML5 History API makes it impossible to use the back button.

Amazon SES has a pretty poor set of IPs due to the issue you mentioned about firing up servers to send spam. Mandrill is top notch, just like other professional email providers such as Mailgun and Sendgrid.

Lua is pretty nice. Great memory footprint, easy to embed, and you can use LuaJIT if you want to trade extra memory usage for extra speed. The best integration so far is probably Nginx: https://blog.cloudflare.com/pushing-ng

I'd absolutely love to work for a software development agency that only expected 20-30 hours per week on average. It seems like there has to be jobs like that as an alternative to security guard, hotel auditor, or food service.
