I've never seen it here, and based on a limited search [1] it appears that the story hasn't made it to the front page (i.e. gotten a non-zero amount of comments) in three years. [1] https://www.hnsearch.com/search#

I don't accept your premise that the people paying for this program would reject higher taxes. But it's worth noting that Oakland has some of the highest property and sales tax rates in what is already a highly taxed state. And a

If you make the assumption that each piece of 'content' takes the same amount of effort/money to produce, that's not really a problem. Site X has presumably spent 3 times as much on content creation, so it's fine fo

The sun moves 0.25 arcminutes in the sky every second, and has an apparent diameter of 30 arcminutes. Meaning that even after 50 years, if you (or your solar panels) look straight up at noon you'll still be pointed at the sun. So syst

OK. As long as we're giving anecdotes, I live in high-density housing in the US, and pay $50 for 200 Mbps symmetric service. Service which is only available in buildings above a certain size.

Aside from the general tone of this, that's not how taxes work. You can only pay VAT on the 50% of your income that you keep (and that is presuming you spend all of it). So you have 50% * 75% = 37.5% of your income left to give to char
