After having evaluated the current state of Chisel 3, it seems most of the hard technical reasons to use Spinal have evaporated. However, when I was experimenting with both of them, Spinal's interface for simulation / testing was

Today is my birthday, and this is quite the excellent gift :) I've been thinking about what it would like to express something like the holographic principle in this form factor ... haven't made much progress!

That’s kind of ridiculous, Rust deeply embraces pointers and that’s why people struggle with it. Rust is way better at pointers than C.

That’s what I mean: given fertilizer dependence, relying on this shouldn’t be uncomfy, but it feels different somehow.

PDF is a container format and yoy can just shove files in there. pdftk supports this with attach_files, and at the very least the linux pdf readers I’ve used know how to deal with them.

I don’t think it’s ridiculous to want a scriptable document, especially for complicated forms. Likewise for the other much-dragged features for 3d scenes. https://pdfa.org/resource/pdf-in-manufacturing/ is a great

Something about making the food supply electric sits unwell with me, which doesn’t make a lot of sense given the amount of fertilizer and transportation energy already involved. The whole system screams fragile to me.

That is a very large search they conducted. Unfortunately this paper is yet to be mirrored to sci-hub. I am quite curious about the graph methods they used, and also what the empirical testing entailed (was it automated? did they have to do

I fully agree. Essentially, the PAM wraps a pure knowledge-based “keys as capabilities” model into a much richer “real capabilities” model.

Ultimately you turn it back to heat, but then you need to put the heat somewhere. One possibility is to just dump it into the earth via a grounding system. You don’t really want to be doing that except in emergency: the soil resistivity isn

The negative rates phenomenon is fascinating. Little to do with subsidies, lots to do with load balancing / matching generation to demand. Hugenormous generation capacity tends to move slowly (just for the mental model, imagine a steam

There’s a psychology concept called “self-efficacy” that I think integrates really well here, we have to summon the belief that we are capable of performing a task, and that has both positive and negative feedbacks. It’s a powerful idea: if

What about this chip is open source? As far as I can tell, nothing. It frustrates me to no end that closed, secret efforts inherit the “open source” branding just because the specification they implement is participatory and royalty free.
