Agreed. I was having trouble focusing for a while and started biking 25 miles immediately when I woke up every morning. Doing the exact same loop every day started a pattern that I could follow for the rest of the day and I became a much

Why focus just on students? Maybe make a general calender/sms applications, then do small customizations for different groups. You could have a student calender or a family calender.

It would appear as though you have spent a good deal of time thinking about this. The irony is that even if 20 people posted their part time success stories, it would have no bearing on your success. It might give you a bit of confidence

A business plan is predicting the future. Play around with scenarios of different success/failure points. If you have X amount of cash to work with that will get you y months of time to prove it.

Actually, you should have named this 'how long can I survive on bootstrapping'. It seems as though your answer is 'not much longer' at your current trajectory. So you need to change something. It sounds like you couldn't afford to release

In no way would I want this. Perhaps I'm just being that old guy on the porch complaining about technology, but I happen to like my innate ability to forget things. I come from an extremely forgetful and absentminded family, and so it is a

Chances are you won't make _this_ mistake, but if your company gets off the ground, you'll make a couple of big mistakes that lose you customers, cash and pride. And you'll look back on those mistakes and wonder to yourself, much like the h

I learned a new word! Vitriol: 1a. See sulfuric acid. 1b. Any of various sulfates of metals, such as ferrous sulfate, zinc sulfate, or copper sulfate. 2. Bitterly abusive feeling or expression.

I've been thinking about something similar. There are a number of different items that help make up what I would consider to be a 'good day'. (this will vary from person to person) 1. Exercise - Did I run or bike? 2. Food - Did I eat heal

I just got out of my 12 year old startup and took a full time, real job. I told them upfront I would probably last 6-9 months, and we are planning my projects accordingly. I have to say it is the most relaxing thing I have ever done in the

I had to teach a new college grad (comp sci) working in my office what DOS was. He didn't like to fiddle with 'computer stuff'. As I was walking him through 'CD' and 'mkdir' I almost had him type 'format c:' just to see what would happen.
