Are you allowed to buy into a walled garden where developers can’t force you to sideload apps to use their apps? That’s what I want to do, but it seems the EU is making that illegal. It seems that users who value freedom can buy Android, an

The trouble is that if large tech companies are given the opportunity, they will force users to use whatever is best for the company, not for the user. The only way to stand up to large tech companies is with another tech company like Apple

I'm genuinely curious here: does anybody have a good, scientific overview of the studies of aspartame? I've heard a lot of studies about it, mostly brand new studies, but I haven't heard of a good summary of our understanding

Android support is possible, and on the roadmap, but right now Mac support is a priority. Android should allow these sort of virtual USB devices (unlike iOS) so it will eventually get added, but it might take a little while.

If you want something now and don't mind a virtual FIDO device, you could try out my solution Bulwark Passkey ( https://bulwark.id ). It's open source and allows you to export your credentials, so it's pretty user-f

For passkeys, I think allowing users to migrate their credentials wherever they want is key. I know Google/Apple/etc are working on a potential solution for that, but I think third-party solutions would be best from an "incen

Software-based passkeys can do this! Bulwark Passkey ( https://bulwark.id ) is a virtual Yubikey-like device, and you can back up the credentials file however you like.

Right now APIs for third parties are fairly limited, so it can be difficult to have support for passkeys with password managers. I was able to solve it for Bulwark Passkey ( https://bulwark.id ) by emulating a USB device and build

I 100% agree. I really like the idea of getting rid of passwords, but I wanted to be able to control my own information. That is why I built Bulwark Passkey ( https://bulwark.id ), an open-source virtual passkey manager which allo

One of the biggest problems with the adoption of passkeys, I think, is the lack of flexibility and possibility of vendor lock-in. What happens when you don't want to use Apple or Google? Will they support the transfer of credentials ou

Passkeys are still pretty new, and only some websites support them so far, though many are adding support right now. You can take a look at https://passkeys.directory for a list of major websites that support it. At least with B

My apologies; I open-sourced VirtualFIDO awhile ago but only open-sourced the actual frontend (Bulwark Passkey) about a week ago, and I forgot the license. It should be MIT licensed now.

I do agree overall, but it is very hard to achieve such a lean organization. Broad layoffs such as this tend to demotivate employees and cause your best employees to look for work where they don't have to worry as much about job securi
