Entirely lacking details; but I don’t think anyone would be surprised at this point that shady things were happening at Terra Labs.

As others have pointed out, even if all these devices have a USB-C hole on them, the likelihood that you could actually use their charger with another device (especially of a different class) is at best a coin toss. The devices still have t

I kind of understand this from an e-waste angle, but why (as a consumer) do I care if different phones use the same cable? I only have one phone. Even if I get a new phone every year, unless I’m switching back and forth between iPhones and

There was a thundering herd e-mail at Amazon about 10 years ago that I’ve heard stories about. It went on for days. There’s a funny internal talk with lots of data about it, maybe it’s on YouTube by now…

It’s kind of like a payday loan type of micro-lending that integrates with merchants similarly to PayPal. I’ve never understood the appeal, it feels super predatory. But most creditors do, I guess. I first heard of it a few years ago when t

Throwing money at a problem is an easy thing to do, if you’ve got the money. Lock-in sucks, but having someone to blame doesn’t. A friend uses VMWare in an IT role at a medium sized company. They don’t have a software engineering team, just

Maybe I'm still misunderstanding the situation; but if you graduate college and then don't get a job for 3 years, I don't think that's going to help you get interviews.

It sounds like there’s a torrent of gossip in your neighborhood about you, and I’m really sorry you have to suffer the consequences. Have any of the parents at the park ever just…chatted with you while the kids play? Its very strange that e

My first iPod was the 1st generation Nano. I still think it's one of the most beautiful products ever made. I'll miss the iPod era; they really were just magical products, and probably the reason I became interested in the Mac.

Responses here are really surprising to me. Should a Google hiring committee consider your search history, too? What's lacking from this conversation is any definition of what behavior we're actually talking about , and the concl

Hm, I don't dig this. I don't think it's ethical to evaluate a candidate's interactions when they weren't informed they were being evaluated. People are stressed heading into an interview, and may be upset afterward

Absolutely. Java Lambdas are often particularly bad in this respect; all the nice abstractions and class hierarchies seem to go out the window as soon as one “implements RequestHandler”. Everything is a singleton all of a sudden, environmen

When I moved states, I had to fly with my rabbit. At the time, Alaska Airlines was the only carrier that would allow a rabbit in the cabin. I thought that was odd, considering a rabbit would indubitably make less of a commotion than a cat o

Twitter has not been available in China since 2009. I think the CCP is much more interested in controlling what Chinese citizens see than what foreigners say in other countries. Still, interesting to think about.

Sounds like you haven’t given up on your ‘dream’ if you’re currently still grinding to attain it. Hate to break it to you, but many, many people raise kids and own a home with way less than $135k, even in your area. If you don’t want to att

I think many single-season Netflix shows would have been movies 15 years ago. But many types of films just don't get made anymore, and many directors and performers would rather work on series. I’d still watch a show with one season, j

I think they're making money, sure; but the promoted content on Snapchat is a total tabloid cesspool of click-bait garbage. I'd rather see ads for the Amazon product I bought last week, tbh.

I tried this, but after missing a handful of important calls from doctors offices, banks, etc. I had to allow unknown callers. It’s unfortunate that regulators in the US seem to have no desire to actually solve this problem.
