We've done quite a bit of development work in Costa Rica in the past couple years. I think it is an up and coming region. We have occasional hiccups in San Jose, but mostly it works pretty smoothly. I've worked in Playa Hermosa an

That's true, but the valuations on deals were much lower after the dot com crash and 9/11. Flickr I think went for less than $100million at about the same time, and it was the Instagram of its day.

Outsourcing by eating out has become much more acceptable in the past few years, but I can remember growing up that eating out was considered a luxury. But restaurants can achieve economies a scale that are difficult to get at home, especia

That's crazy that you didn't get the job. Considering AirBNB's growth rate, it seems they could have taken a risk that someone like yourself would grow into the position.

At one point I hired a personal assistant through oDesk. I took this idea from Timothy Ferriss's 4-Hour Workweek, but I hired someone in the US. I wanted to get a landscaping project done (that was required by the environmental regulat

I've outsourced some development on oDesk, and it worked out ok. I even hired one of the developers full-time for a different project. What I did was start with a small project, and verify the developer's work. This is much easier

I think they have, but it is subtle. It could be argued that Instagram was a shot over Adobe's bow.

Of course, but you won't know what the price will be until the shares start trading. If there is a lot of demand, they could be priced higher than the offer price.

No it isn't. Building high density housing is nothing like building more freeways. Edit: Many people argue in favor of building restrictions on the basis of environmental concerns, but limiting housing in SF is just pushing more people

Subsidizing is NOT the answer. This will drive up prices for everyone living above subsidies. The problem is demand WAY outstrips housing supply. In my opinion the one thing that could kill the Bay Area economy is the aversion to residentia

Seeing Adobe as one of the oldest domain names is disappointing. They were perfectly positioned to take advantage of the growth of they internet, but were never able to capitalize. The company has really stagnated in the past 15 years.

Typically fee based advisors charge a percentage of assets under management. The is opposed to traditional brokers who charge trade commissions. There are few who aren't paid based on AUM.

Even if a financial advisor meets the fiduciary standard, he or she may still not be looking out for your best interest. I'd say become educated, and bypass the advisor altogether.
