This was highly embarrassing though I doubt it changes the equation of nuclear deterrence. Even if only half the trident are functional, no nation in its right mind will want half of the UK ICBMs heading their way. Even if you think you can

And the problem with McCarthyism wasn't so much what was happening in congress, it is that the accusation of being a communist made you unemployable in Hollywood or elsewhere. It's extraordinary that Hollywood re-established a bla

Strictly statistically speaking, race is likely a good predictor of credit worthiness in the US. But extending credit based on race is illegal which isn't hugely controversial. The woke ideologists are merely pushing that concept to 11

Agree but we are pretty much spot on in woke mccarthyism territory, which used to be widely understood as a bad thing.

I am doubtful as well. We are told these factories cost 10s of billions to build though the number of people on the floor doesn't seem very different than any other factory. I find that hard to believe that labour is a primary driver.

You are not going to get any leader to declare publicly they regret having started a war, even in the fuming rubbles of their own cities.

I don’t think Putin would have gone ahead if he expected this fierce resistance from Ukraine and the strong reaction of the west. Most wars start by one or multiple parties miscalculating the cost of the war. Starting with the two WW.

Then how do you express that something must happen at a date in the future at 4pm local time? If you use UTC based on today's expectation of daylight savings, they may have changed by the time this date happens.

Surely at one point someone has to invest into the fund, you can't just buy shares on the secondary market otherwise how do they fund assets? For ETFs, market makers are liaising with the issuer to issue and redeem as the demand fluctu

I don't know if REIT aggressively remark the value of their property to adverse market conditions. I would watch how much they marked down their assets otherwise you might buy at a very overinflated value.

Or if you have 20 files in a folder called IMG0887.jpg, IMG0897.jpg, etc, and you need to open them one after the other with an open file dialog, easy to pick the wrong one. A scientist isn't necessarily IT smart, particularly in medic

Every kid loved videogames. I see no such enthusiasm for VR. My experience mirrors that of many others here, and of those I handed the 3 VR headsets I bought over the years: interesting, but just interesting. One off experience.

I agree, this is tying the video game to a more recent hardware, which will also disappear in its own time. Much better to have a full software emulation that can be ported / recompiled to newer CPUs and new OS.

I think there will be an A380 again, unless you think air traffic will go down, and I don't see any trend of that. Number of runways is a much tougher constraint to expand than plane size, so the segment of point to point occupied by A

Except that the losses are rarely passed on to investors. The issuer (the bank) typically retains first loss (that changed after the 2008 crisis). So it's typically more a tool to get cheap funding than selling mortgages.
