There are people who are economically literate, and who recognise that the massive money printing under trump to deal with the covid shut down of the economy contributed to inflation, as did the war in ukraine and supply chain disruptions,

Agree with the Corbyn analogy, but let's not overstate Starmer's electoral appeal. He got less votes than Corbyn. What got him elected is that tory voters didn't show up to vote because of tory policies.

What do you audit if both the tally and the paper ballot are consistent? The only check possible is the voter checking themselves before they hand over the paper ballot.

If it was compromised, it wouldn't flip all the votes, it would flip just enough to change the result while staying credible. So the question is how many people double check the paper ballot. Because if it randomly flips, say 1 ballot

I think you are confusing "dieting" and "sustainable lifestyle". Dieting is starving yourself to lose weight. That's not sustainable and those drugs help a lot. But once you are on target weight, you can switch to a

Though in the UK they cost something like £200 a month, I am saving that in food just by fasting while on those drugs, so it kinds of pays for itself.

It's down to how much of a diet you do (the drug only manages your appetite). I went hardcore and lost 40kg in 3 months, almost "effortlessly". One meal a day, no sugar, 45min cardio daily. Now trying to figure out where the

Yeah but you are not meant to do a diet your whole life either, they help you make a diet. If people revert to unhealthy habits after that it is on them. But there is a difference between fasting to lose weight (where you are hungry, very h

How is that different from covid vaccines? The long term risk wasn't known, but covid was super dangerous for a subset of the population, so for those it was absolutely a risk worth taking, and so is obesity.

Because what is implicit in saying that solar (or wind) is cheaper than nuclear per W produced is that it is a viable alternative to nuclear. But to be an alternative you need to be able to meet the demand whether there is light/wind o

That was true in the 70s. I think anything built in europe since the 80s can do load following and France does that every day. I think by regulation new plants must be able to adapt their production by something like 5% per 10min (or someth

I am using a 43 inch 4k monitor so I am allin on big screen real estate. But I find that even with a quarter of your screen area, I struggle to read the corners of the screen, the bottom is often obstructed by whatever is lying on my desk,

Well as long as you have vast amount of storage capacity + overprovision, or an alternative source of on-demand electricity, the cost of which I never see included when comparing to on-demand energy sources like nuclear of fossil fuels.

I remember the way we built wasp/hornet traps in the french countryside. Take a plastic bottle of water, cut it in two (top vs bottom), invert the top so the bottle opening is pointing toward the bottom, and fill the bottom of the bott

Animals have rights, but they are not treated as humans (in some jurisdictions you can even be jailed for mistreating certain animals). The anthropomorphisation of animals is kind of a childish behaviour that affects too many city kids.

And if you have a clustered index like in MS SQL Server, a non monotonic uuid results in inserting the data in the middle of the table (bad performance) rather than appending to the end.
