This is a fascinating topic because there is no practical way of knowing what food-related items (containers, utensils, washing up liquids) are safe to heat and what aren't. Indeed no one can track the makeup of everything in their kit

Thanks, that was very insightful. Yes, as you say, the copyright year in a .cpp/.h doesn't necessarily say whether C++ 11 features are used. I've looked at many "Copyright 201" and "Copyright 202" headers.

Yes, my argument sounds similar. But it's in support of modernity rather than primitivism. C++ nowadays can be used in a very memory-safe way without much effort. In my professional experience, memory leaks and corruptions are sporadic

Programming languages are tools for a job. As the saying goes, a bad workman blames his tools. It's not worth taking anyone who blames defects on a programming language too seriously, whether it's Google or not. Modern C++ has man

After reading about it, that's the impression I got as well. Why did they want to involve wormholes in this? Sending information faster than light is already awe-inspiring. At least if that's what happened. I can't wait to se

I used to think that people wouldn't do these things, but some do them regularly and unapologetically. I once caught a car technician from a reputable dealership's service taking my car out for personal chores, as the guy did not

It looks like some abuse of power. Pepe is as offensive as the ok-hand and thumbs-up emojis. All are used by people who align with far-right politics, and all are considered hate symbols by small groups while not recognized as such by most

Unit tests and TDD should be used as tools when necessary. Unfortunately, many team leads and higher-level engineers don't take the time to explain to juniors when to use these tools. Just that the tools are essential. And therefore, f

I am skeptical of apps claiming to block telemetry. There is a feedback loop that app/service developers like Adguard can use for blocking ads - if an ad shows up, they can look into blocking it. It's not the same for telemetry. T

Being a code monkey is fine if one embraces that position with its economic and ambition consequences. It could even be a good economic deal with a 9-to-5 minimal effort mindset. Being a code monkey who thinks it's their job to be resp
