There's a tool on Windows called Everything. I use it to grep file names on my hard drive, so I don't care too much about how docs are organized. But I use Org-ref to download pdfs and update my bibtex.

Great book loaded with practical information. I'll also recommend Christian Robert's The Bayesian Choice for the more math-y decision theory crowd.

I do not like headlines that say 'scientists show link between x and y'. It sounds too causal. Rather, journalists should try to write 'scientists observed x correlates with y'

I find tidyverse a bit slow, and I don't like having to memorize all the verbs. I typically reach for data.table these days as a nice middle ground between base R and tidyverse. Your thoughts?

Statistics: How do we quantify evidence for a hypothesis from data? Examples: p-values, Bayes Factors, credible regions, a likelihood ratio. These are all quite different!

I'll preface my question by saying that I'm not a dev. Why do this kind of work in the shell? Isn't it better to do this in a programming language that can run on all operating systems? What are Windows users supposed to do?
