I like the figures in this paper. Does anyone know how they are made? Raw TikZ, or is a template available?

In reality, when people quit social media, they don't start using their time better, they mostly shift their time into different time waster websites. For example, people quit using facebook for 2 hours a day just start skimming reddit

I quit smoking in 2014 after having done it for ~8 years. I replaced it with nicotine gum, which worked, but I became more addicted to the nicotine gum than cigarettes. I got up to chewing the equivalent of two packs a day. Then one day thi

Sorry, I just don't understand. I don't really use terminals except to do a system update. Is there a specific issue?

pure-gtk doesn't decouple ui process from editor, if that's what you're asking about.

Hopefully pure-gtk branch will be merged prior to Emacs 28, addressing (2). On (1), I'm not much of a programmer, but Emacs-lisp fine, so I'm not sure what benefit changing languages could bring.

I've been trying to chase this high for a while. Unfortunately, using Ubuntu MATE with my current computer and HiDPI screen just feels _wrong_.

I've always thought it was very sad and unfortunate that core data classes like sampling design and experimental design have fallen out of academic style.

Yes, I agree. Conditional on some "difficult" languages like Java, the experience is quite different. For non-difficult languages like C, R, and Python, the gap is small. I've also enjoyed the Emacs/Python experience :)

The difference between an IDE and a souped-up vim or emacs configuration is ... very little. Your average fancy pants vim config has auto-completion, debuggers, etc.

I have in my Firefox settings selected the option to block all autoplay audio and video, yet this site is able to slip through. Is there anything I can do about this? (Other than manually blocking elements with ublock) And is there a way to

I received a cast iron pan from a college roommate 10 years ago. My wife and I still use the pan most days, and we know how to care for it with minimal work. Apparently the pan is a classic Griswald. I was shocked that you can buy it for $6

I have no idea. That requires policy, economics, decision analysis, and (probably) more convincing evidence that we are near an edge. Again, I think the climate is changing. And I think it will continue to change in ways that adversely affe
