Am I the only one who read this thinking it was truth, only to feel lied to after finding out it's fiction? Is the-toast.net doing the same thing as The Onion, or was it just this one story? If I was Tolkien, I'd be a bit peeved a

I think it's unfair to punish someone for a decision they had no part of. How many of the people who had their info leaked had an a part in making the decision to go with the security precautions they chose, or even were aware of them.

This. IMO the higher up the chain you are, the more responsibility you have to secure the systems you are responsible for. I feel like it's a perceived lack of accountability (from the perspective of the hackers) of the executive team

What about privacy when applying for a job? When I apply for a job, I'm not putting my content online. But that's all the Sony employees have done, and now they're directly in the crossfire.

I have no sympathy for Sony, but I feel deeply for the honest people who are just trying to earn a living working there. More so after reading about how some of them were openly complaining internally about things they saw as problems - man

They don't just refuse to work with non-keurig k-cups, they refuse to work with version 1 k-cups from the old system. Sucks to be anyone who bought more than a box before their machine broke.

I agree that the current system needs to change. I don't agree that we should throw open the doors for Uber as a catalyst to make that change though. Cabs can be downright horrible, but I'm hesitant to throw out the devil we know

I don't dispute that malware is incentivised to look like legitimate traffic. I wanted to respond to your comment about vendors using one endpoint to inhibit filtering. They have as much freedom to do this as I do to deny them any inte

I like this idea. It does assume that a user can't set the vlan themselves but my switches support this and I think it would be really cool to have segregated networks for different levels of user trust.

I really like this idea. I'm trying to take it one step further in fact. My filtering is done at the gateway, and I'm hunting for ways of communicating which packets are associated with which users (on Linux and Mac). Probably don

I concede that it's not a panacea, but I really do feel like filtering outbound requests is going to be one of the best defences we have against stuff like this going forward. It protects you against: - viruses / trojans that try

This post says the route cache was removed. This leads me to the question: What replaced it? Surely if it was simply removed, network performance would drop, which leads me to think caching must have been added somewhere else as it was remo

I'm right behind you in boycotting anything Sony. It raises the question though, what would it take for a company with a reputation as tarnished as Sony's to earn back your respect and patronage? For me, the answer to that is not
