Thanks. Totally agree with the "I wish it wasn't so" sentiment, as I know JavaScript way better than Objective-C. (That said, I ended up finding Xcode and Objective-C fairly pleasant after getting the hang of it).

I got pretty darn far with jQuery Mobile before I realized that I was going to just build something I wasn't proud of. I did really put a good effort into it though. Jittery, slow, and inconsistent scrolling and page transitions were (sadly

I built this as a companion to my web app http://TheWikiGame.com . Started it as an HTML5 app (using jQuery Mobile and Phonegap), but I abandoned them in favor of Objective-C, which turned out to be a choice I'm very happy with. Native scr

I'd love to ask the hundreds of people on Twitter, and elsewhere, exclaiming "Awesome, jQuery Mobile 1.0 is out!", this one question: Which app, that you use, built with jQuery Mobile, is excellent?

"IaaS" is often pronounced "ice". And "Paas"/"Saas" is "pass"/"sass". Useful for geeks. "Cloud" works for non-geeks.

Cool. I'm building http://SurfsGood.com which is basically the same thing. I've been meaning to put more time into it, and one thing, as dlokshin and others point out, the public vs private pics is definitely a very real concern with surf

I've heard a lot of praise for Testflight, and now we have people proclaiming "I wish they'd charge me". What's the catch - or put in a better way, what's their business model?

Understood, but the owner of that Twitter account is not Starbucks' PR, correct? Either way, I'd rather 'assume good faith' as mentioned elsewhere in this thread. Currently I'm just curious, as I've been following the card story since befor

I'm really rooting for Phonegap. I really want to write apps written in html5/css/javascript, but what is really need is "proof" that it is possible to write a great app using these tools. I've seen all the demos, and all the Phonegap apps

Can anyone give the main differences between 3.x and 4.x? E.g. what features and/or improvements make it so apps like Foursquare require 4.0?

Not trying to be snarky, but a huge benefit of going to a place like "Stanford Business School" is precisely the advantageous effects of "naming-dropping" you went there.

This is great! What about also indicating if the plane has power plugins? Or is this becoming the standard these days? If my laptop/iPad dies, knowing the internet is available goes from awesome to super painful.

It's good to know this stuff, but in my real-world usage of JavaScript, I've become a big fan of Backbone.js to help structure code intelligently, etc.

If your app uses a database, you've got bigger problems than optimizing Nginx for high traffic loads. That said, I absolutely love Nginx because it's so damn lightweight, and easy to setup and maintain.

On a slightly related note, I first heard about Redis from Ezra -- probably ~2 years ago. I believe he deserves some similar type of credit for the early spread of Redis. (His latest project cloudfoundry.com just launched today, so I think

A possibly more precise way of expressing this thought is: "Competition from big players doesn't necessarily equate to a death sentence to small players". Had a similar thought yesterday: "Google Code and Launchpad are run by big players, y
