They both matter. Confusing syntax can lead to just as many bugs as confusing semantics. (I'm not arguing that they weren't bikeshedding...)

I agree with most of this. If you have non-trivial message handling logic in a production system, you probably shouldn't use SQS directly to drive your work. Your SQS handling logic should be simple and reliable. In most cases, if t

As always, it depends on your use cases. The data management and API footprint story is way simpler with SQS than with a relational database, and you don't have to worry about all the scaling complexity that comes with relational data

Thanks! Meta-observation: to me, nothing in economics or finance is "blindingly obvious". Many economic phenomena seem obvious but in reality are way more complex than could be represented by any model that I could understand.

Laws have a tendency not to stop dictators. They are the law. In reality laws are only as powerful as their enforcement, and if there is no will to enforce, like what happens during transitions to dictatorships, then they’ll just be ignore

Awesome! I love to see data driven analysis like this. I don’t really agree with some of the conclusions though, such as: > Contrary to the common belief that message passing is less error-prone, more blocking bugs in our studied Go ap

I find this to be throwing around pretty shallow platitudes. Winning/losing is not binary, it is a continuum. There are degrees of losing. If you lose hard enough, you will not be able to leverage it for a win later. And you might
