I've used the XPS 13 (the Windows 8 version, with a 1440x900 screen) as well as the X1 Carbon (touch and non-touch). The X1 is a better machine overall, though most users find the XPS to be better looking. My biggest complaints with the XPS

I'd say typical is something around 20Mbps down, 3Mbps up, but if you look it up you'll find an average quite a bit lower than that because a lot of the US (by land area) can't even get broadband.

In case anyone was wondering, I used the app to check pricing for my 1br/1ba with pets near downtown Seattle: $107 for a one-time cleaning, $214 for a thorough "move out" cleaning. The earliest appointment available for either was two days

The unfortunate thing is that Windows RT is completely un-manageable, in the only way any Windows Sysadmin cares: group policy. For most sysadmins, the fact that Windows RT cannot join a domain and cannot be managed with GPOs/SCCM makes it

Great post, though you really did pick an extreme screenshot for the iOS example. Something like Messages, Mail, or Calendar would be a more representative screenshot. It did remind me how much "find friends" and Game Center make my eyes bl

Ah, we shared the same reading comprehension issue. Aside from the whiteboard or other fixed-surface situation, you can always just angle the paper. Writing with the paper angled about 60 degrees anticlockwise seems to do the trick. Fountai

Sounds like Rochester pricing. I miss it sometimes --$1000 for a 3 bedroom with a garage and a backyard, in a nice neighborhood near Highland Park, a nice bike commute to RIT or downtown. Too bad about the job situation up there, though it'

It'd be surprising if a high profile place such as an embassy didn't have its own off-site mail sorting facility. Many high profile non-government places already do this. It's fairly easy to evacuate a mail facility full of contractors (fro
