I'm planning to refocus my mobile app business, and while I had planned on just continuing on cashing the checks from my other apps, lately I've considered the idea of selling them and really concentrating 100% on the main one. A

If everyone gave 10%, it would immediately be a solved problem. No need to spend every possible minute working. 10% would be so much more than is needed.

Can we be sad about the time you are wasting on HN lecturing us about our game playing? Everyone needn't be helping the poor 24/7. There's plenty of room for giving of time and money to better causes and also still having som

To be fair, you can replace EVE with HN in that sentence, and it still works for many people (myself included at various times, for both EVE and HN) I like the charitable view, but I can feel for the sentiment in the parent comment as well.

Make something you're interested in using yourself. It doesn't matter if the app already exists. Read reviews, see what people do and don't like about it and try to make a better version.

You could work on things for yourself. As a 16 yr old presumably living with your parents there's no risk. I'd suggest starting with a small mobile iPhone or Android app. Make a little bit of side money while building a portfolio

For the sleep tracking component, or just in general? Personally I have no problems charging my watch daily, just like my phone. But it does present an issue if you want to wear it while sleeping. I've never wanted to wear a watch slee

It's a balancing act. If you want to be found by searches for your title, you have to have a branded title (that if needed you could trademark). If you want to just use your top keyword as your name, it's going to be much harder t

But now, the big question is can it compete with Apple Watch? I didn't really "get" the idea at first, but now that I have an Apple Watch I have actually paid attention and enjoyed the activity app for all the reasons you sta

It already exists. Apple watch does what fitbit does along with plenty of other useful stuff. I can't imagine why anyone would use a fitbit instead, other than perhaps cost. That's not a great thing to be your only way of competin

Apple quickly reversed that rejection, and stated that it wasn't their policy in regards to Pebble.

Perhaps it's a poor choice, we'll find out I suppose. The reason is mainly that I know it well, and already have an app that is featured by Apple with great ratings already. To be fair I "picked" the category 4 years ago

I have no problems with it at all, and I think that is the order it should be. I know a lot of devs would prefer to be higher on the food chain though, or at least it seems that way sometimes.

Ha, yeah I've been working to fill in that gap. I did add a skiing/snowboarding tracking app, but it doesn't have quite the same sales as the others, and the skiing season doesn't really start until late december/ja

Yeah so Chomp was a small startup working on app store search that Apple bought. End of June 2012 they did a huge update to the search algorithm, that effected a lot of apps. One of the biggest changes being that free app downloads were wei

Oh sure, and as long as devs aren't leaving (they aren't) apple is likely not doing anything "wrong". They have unashamedly said their order of doing things is 1. Good for apple 2. Good for users 3. Good for devs (distan

There is a lot of hate for the app store by developers, and i've dished out some of it, but frankly with over a million apps it's not an easy problem to solve. I actually think the store is in a pretty decent state right now overa
