Very interesting idea, but lots of red flags here. 1. This isn't user acquisition. Nothing even close to it. User acquisition would be getting users. This is at best getting leads that aren't even warm. A lead is not a user. 2. Pa

Probably because it's unreasonable for me to lose my house to a patent troll like these guys. Taking risks is good for the economy in general. Without the LLC giving me some protection from patent trolls it'd be too risky for me t

That's a pretty good summary. Writing a book is hard, but it is rewarding to actually publish a book.[1] I'm still not sure how I feel about selling them with an average price of $80 though. I'd probably make more money overa

GPL is open source(shitty open source, but open source nonetheless), yet you can't use that code commercially. Edit for downvotes: Perhaps I should have been more clear. As this is iOS code, you cannot in fact use it commercially. GPL

The interesting thing about this is that the original iPhone was barely something that could be called a success. It sold 6.1 Million phones over 5 quarters. The recent launch was 9 Million in 3 days. They sold 50% more phones in a weekend

I haven't had this happen, but something similar. One of my friend's dad passed away while I was away for college. This was before Facebook and since we went to different schools I didn't end up finding out for 6 months or a

I think you are right that the apps that "win big" are going to be the volume free apps. That being said, people are still spending a lot of money those games, it's just not up front. Also, as an indie, I'm honestly not

Everything you said is pretty much spot on, but I think the overarching point that isn't really spelled out, is that people do actually spend money on apps[1]. There are important pricing considerations in that going from .99 to 1.99 y

We get posts like this all the time, but it isn't actually what is playing out in the world. Apple paid out $5 billion to developers last year and that obviously doesn't include advertising revenue and Android profits. People ARE

>The economic reality is that most apps offer next to no value to people. They might say otherwise when asked about, but their actions speak pretty clearly: A cup of coffee is worth more than almost every app on the store. Two things. 1.

You can do trials on the app store. It's just not the standard time limited trial that you're used to. With most apps, you can find a way to limit the app that is still within the rules. For example, anything that saves something

This article starts out acting like the release of Z10 was what killed blackberry. Hardly. They were dead long before the Z10, and releasing the Z10 with a keyboard was not the answer. To think it is is laughable. As others have stated, the

You have to know the real numbers to make that determination. Increased 17% from 100 is 117. iPad decreasing from 550 to 450 (pulled out of my ...) would mean the parent is still right.

I recently self-published a book and I have a different gripe with Amazon. I didn't realize (I'm sure most wouldn't know) that Amazon is basically forcing people to price ebooks at 9.99. At prices < $10, Amazon gives 70%.
