As an aside, as someone that works in this space (yield curve construction, pricing, risking etc), does anyone know of a forum where news items have this sort of discussion?

But why would the bank use the chain, the financial web of trust is already there and doesn't need to use a chain to facilitate internal or external transfers of monies. It would be a huge time sink with no real benefit to the consumer

I think that's a poor example for the following reasons; * if it's a one off payment to all recipients, why not just send it manually? * what happens when you need to add or remove recipients? Compared to just phoning up the bank

In C++ I always do, everything is 'const auto &' if it can be. C# const is different, it's more like C++ '#define'. Why wouldn't you always go for the most immuatable declaration? Even in C++, where you can

With another ~15% for cycling/walking for London, it's an amazingly easy city to get around with transport options that stretch out far from the city itself (I travel 50 miles each way, taking 1hr15m when everything is working cor

Then whoever taught that class didn't teach properly. LIBOR is (s/is/was/g) the risk free rate of lending. After recent financial crisis, OIS treated as a more reliable index rate to use.

Kontakt is pretty cool, not just for drum machines but any samples. For example, the NI orchestra samples are absolutely amazing. For drums it's just another sampler, you're probably better off sticking with Drum Rack unless you w

For all it's warts, in my opinion Linux (and *BSD's) are some of the greatest software engineering efforts of our time. I think we'll be lucky to ever see a FOSS kernel reach the same level of ubiquity in our lifetime as Linu

I can second that, I think switching from Arch -> NixOS was far too much complexity at once. I've been considering using Guix as a package manager on Arch, but it would require a fresh install to avoid conflicts.

I have to agree that Spacemacs is seriously complex. I first cam to it because I wanted to try Emacs coming from Vim/nvim but it suffered from prettt bad load times, a bad C/C++ story and a leaky abstraction over packages. I'

I think nowadays it's a bit of a misconception that C++ is unsafe regarding memory; RAII essentially takes care of it for you when you talking about IO or other resources, and under the circumstances that you really need a pointer you
