Here are my opinions being in the industry through various roles as a dev, technical lead, and dev manager. I think there is too much weight put on CS theory but it is valuable if you already have it through a degree. Outside of FAANG and s

I think this is a new model of job security? It generally looks like: - Go to company with major growth - Tackle a problem they face - Leverage company resources to build a open source solution - Sell management on all the benefits of open

David Shor probably got fired because they did not have a disclaimer on their account expressing these are just their opinions. I once had an employer come after me when I posted a Medium article because of this. Medium appends your bio at

I would not be surprised if AWS actually allocates marketing dollars towards covering bills like this. In the long term this is a brilliant plan because it helps prevent people from blacklisting the provider. Imagine someone gets hit with $

I have a hard time relating to your comment. Why do you need a couple more bedrooms? Can split a bedroom as an office with the other person in your house. If you have kids you can pair them up in the same bedroom with bunk beds. You could s

Nobody in my circle of aged 25-35 North American friends talk about buying a Tesla because it is only an electric car. It is the whole package that gets people to buy it. Not only does it look good, it feels smooth while driving, it actuall

Extremely doubtful, any of the card schemas would shut this down so fast. Like the moment someone called in the first chargeback. They're probably a payment aggregator with dynamic descriptors. This would allow them to process the high

Maybe we're both mixed up. Let's say we have a cluster with a sort of "global" topic called "incoming-events" and it has 10 partitions. We'll most likely eventually end up with a "hot" write part

Brokers in Pulsar can be seamlessly added or removed. Bookies can seamlessly be added. Kafka unless there has been a KIP since I stopped paying attention to Kafka doesn't do this. I remember adding brokers to Kafka and taking advantage
