I think a better question is: “what problem in my existence does this solve”. This one is a definite none.

I laughed at the big cloud providers comment because my job these days is filing support tickets with AWS when their ancillary services don’t work properly for some reason. While I don’t think maturity has improved or got worse really, cons

Yes the chat interface is terrible. I actually had an LLM try and gaslight me into changing the subject a couple of weeks back. I’m not sure how I managed to get down that hole but it was frustrating. And eventually the information was wron

50/50. I wore one for nearly 4 years. Then one day I took it off because I was travelling somewhere really dangerous. And I never put it back on again. Turned out it was more ritual than utility for me.

I very run big buckets in production that have single addresses hammering them hard all day every day. I've never seen any restrictions or throttling.

Ok I'm actually going to delete my web site and cloudfront distribution over this. It gets no traffic (at the moment). The bucket is the same name as the domain so I can imagine this could be exploited quietly very easily as PUTs are s

As a regular Hertz customer, I will still use Hertz. They are mostly zero hassle, even that time I destroyed a Fiat 500 :) I never rented an EV from them and never would because the charging logistics are a pain in the ass at return. Out of

Bollocks. It is plain that Microsoft only care about stock price rising on a promise rather than delivering gains for their customers. They'll only say this while there is attention on it. I am having trouble naming one change they hav

I'm not in the US but this is not a thing anywhere in the UK at least. Everyone uses WhatsApp. Same with all my friends in Europe. Same with my kids and their friends, although they all seem to be on SnapChat more than anything. Actual

There is no way Apple would consider even suggesting pulling out of the EU. The shareholders would hang the entire CXO class in a nanosecond if they even mentioned it.

I’ve got to be honest while I appreciate the direction they are forced in, I have yet to find anyone outside the tech industry who actually knows or gives a crap. Also the only reason Epic and Spotify are after them is not some altruistic r

The thing is though, stuff rarely works like that when it comes to reality. It shows more of a lack of understanding of electronics than is required to build something end to end. There is a lot of futzing that goes on after the idealisms a

That's pretty funny but sad. I'm not even in BC or the US but I had to remove the light bulb from my porch to stop people shooting up in there and poking the syringes in my plants. I still have "HIV yucca" as it's k

I'm not saying it was a bad analogy, just that it's easy to create analogies to create a narrative based on your own perception. Obviously the point was missed.

After watching a couple of videos, that works with some older versions of DFU software and not new ones. Might be an arbitrary restriction by the DFU update software rather than the hardware. I'm sure they know this and work around it

This is a crap analogy. You buy different stuff, copy your data across and sell the original stuff. That’s not lock in. It is if there is no other stuff to buy.

We can all use hyperbole and carefully pick our narratives when we want. Example: I can live in this nice comfy condo for a sky high fee (Apple) or I can live in a rickety old shed I have to keep fixing for free so I don’t have to pay the g

Not wishing to kill the idea, but this looks much harder rather than easier to lay out boards. Also the outcome is not what I'd call even remotely normal for a board design. I mean it's a good experiment and learning exercise but

Agreed. Actually an anecdote on switching, my father in law bought an iPhone in a pawn shop. It was logged in with someone else’s iCloud account. He just used that until he dropped dead. We had no idea until I had to clean his phone out. My

This is not exactly true. I can lift and shift to Google or Microsoft or standalone if I want to in a day easily. I just don’t want to! (I have tested this - always have an exit strategy)
