I think there is a lot of truth to this. I started programming in C++ and then Java. But for about the past decade I've done web dev. Recently I've found myself back working on some non-web projects and it's a breath of fresh

I do respect Jeremy Parish. But as a huge Castlevania fan myself I find that list pretty surprising. Obviously there is a lot of subjectivity in something like this. But I would argue Super Castlevania is better than many of the games he pu

Super Castlevania is quite highly regarded by the Castlevania community. It's not the best Castlevania (Rondo of Blood is), but it's up there.

Friend codes and generally Nintendo's online service being poor is a conscious decision. They really don't want players chatting with each other, as they want it to be a safe place for children.

If picking up a 3DS, I highly recommend a "New" model. They include cameras that track your eyes, making the 3D effect much better. It's true the 3D effect is just a gimmick, but it's a very neat one. Games like Metroid

Where in the world were these places? Our basement is just fine. But we are in Michigan where houses pretty much must have a basement due to frost. I wonder if the builders in areas like this have more experience with them.

I recently bought a used phone on ebay. When I turned it on it had the previous owner's data in tact and no passcode. I opened Gmail and was in their account. I immediately factory reset the phone. My point being sensitive data leaks a

Yeah Android has some features and apps in this space. This iOS mode is an accessibility feature. I guess for some people a pure red screen helps them see it better? This feature is not intended as a "night mode", it's very e

iOS lets you turn on a red filter that disables the green and blue channels. you can set it to turn on by triple tapping the home button (or I'm guessing the back for new phones). This is the one thing I really miss after switching to

There are also const enums, which get inlined/erased at compile time. Even so, I still avoid using enums and prefer literal types instead.

I can appreciate and agree with the point the author is making. Mindless fluff like social media and just watching too much TV can really add up and do harm. But I do want to defend YouTube a little bit. Anyone being able to upload anything

The article suggests one person runs the set of phones, and sells their service to drivers. So I'd imagine that person has tuned the number of phones to be profitable. You can get older used cell phones for dirt cheap.

Nope. You can report it's missing if you own an Apple device. I have done that (many times). I have also talked with Apple support on Twitter many times, and they even assigned a dedicated support person who called me several times. I

I agree with deleting tests. But when raising this with any team I've ever worked on, I might as well have said I was going to go drop the prod database. Deleting tests, in my experience, comes with a massive stigma that I am not sure
