I really like Amazon Music. The interface is simple and not gimmicky. Just search for music and play it.

I don't understand this. I visit a site I've never been to before and immediately a popup takes over along these lines. Do those really convert? I can't imagine they do, but they are also everywhere so they must be effective

I am using Ubuntu 20 and as far as I know I don't encounter any of these issues. If anyone is aware of user hostile things in Ubuntu, I'd love to hear it.

Is it inflated expectations, or do younger people not always understand what they are worth? I suspect it's probably somewhere in between the two.

Apple's software quality has absolutely tanked over the past 4 years or so. I've gone from 100% Apple devices (starting with a G3 in 1997) to zero as of about 2019 as I got sick of dealing with all the bugs.

When I graduated with my CS degree in 2002 the job search was brutal. I hang out in cscareerquestions on Reddit and a common theme seems to be getting that first junior dev job is really hard. Is this just an unfair reality all junior devs

It's a real shame. I used to really enjoy my daily Quora digest email. One of the only automated emails I truly dug into and read in detail. Over time I read it less and less. Then switched it to be weekly, then turned it off. I miss t

I'm not sure the consumer's wants really have much weight here. Manufacturers want smart TVs so they can get ad revenue. Streaming services want smart TVs to help get their app in front of more people. Google, Apple, Amazon and Ro

On top of that the FCC governs the airwaves and (at least in theory) works to ensure they meet public need. There are also other rules such as the Equal Time Rule. Twitter is subject to nothing like these things.

I once had a representative from Vanguard call me, and the first thing he asks me for is my security questions. I responded with "I can't be certain you're actually from Vanguard" and he got really annoyed. He was legit,

There's no need to insult. This is a discussion. What you want is currently not possible. The web community currently does not see your use case as necessary or in demand. Maybe they are wrong. But again, blaming the websites for this

I think your argument should be rerouted to browser standards and possibly browser vendors, but not websites. prefers-color-scheme is the only signal given to a website. What should a website do if it is set to "dark"? The only re

You seem to take issue with `prefers-color-scheme`, which is the only signal a website has to know a user's dark/light preferences. I agree websites should allow users to choose (and remember the choice), but I disagree it's

There are over 20,000 approved medications in the US. I don't really feel like this analogy is holding up very well. But, have I happened to remember about 200 or so API and library calls over my career? Probably.
