Nope, if every person does things completely differently, that's just a lack of technical leadership. Leaders pick an approach with tradeoffs that meet organizational goals and help their team to follow it.

No it doesn't. Simple and targeted solutions are not bad code. For example, start with a single postgres instance on a single machine, rather than Hadoop clusters and Kubernetes. Once that is maxed out, you will have time and money to

Because in work places they are trying to make money. We want the most impact for the least effort. There is absolutely a place for the kind of craftsmenship your are describing, but if you don’t understand the incentives of your workplace

The public isn’t outraged. It’s mostly journalists and a tiny vocal minority. Its as ridiculous as saying Microsoft is support terrorism because they use computers running windows. You bring up a good point about regulators though. That pro

Yes. And the latest iteration of JavaScript/canvas has had longevity, but it doesn’t have the robustness of a JPEG. What you describe would be interesting.

My gut reaction to this sort of thing is that textbooks work great and have a timeless quality. But with a little more thought, they certainly aren't optimal. Being able to see a video, hear a sound, or play with a figure can be powerf
