Yeah, probably not much, but approximate to the ARPU for google, which I think is around $25 per year. Also, if anyone is interested in working on something like this, shoot me an email at the address in my profile.

Part of the problem is that our discoverability mechanisms on the internet now massively favor monetized content. I for one would happily use an 'indie' search engine that favors lightly monetized/non-monetized content.

That's not super tinfoily, it's pretty much what undergraduate economics implies should happen with increased wealth disparity in a city (the wealth disparity part, not necessarily the automation part).

Because the world is not divided into good and bad, and I care about the 'why' of a rating much more than I care about whether it's positive or negative.

You're setting a very high bar for 'trivial' in the enterprise programming world outside of FANG. Half of the developers in my company would learn a nontrivial amount from having to copy and paste solutions from github.

HN’s culture is pretty good at sniffing out and giving appropriate context to bullshit in ways Facebook emphatically isn’t, and I don’t think it’s true to say that people aren’t also taking YouTube to task for the same kind of malfeasance.
