Let's assume we live in the ideal world where source code, raw data, analysis pipelines, and processed data are accessible with a paper. In practice, do you think that graduate students and professors will have time to review this info

To add to the market saturation, botnet operators are very interested in monetizing their network now that Bitcoin is getting harder to mine. I never followed through, but I had no problem convincing an open-minded hacker to let me use idle

I'm not sure about "code as art" but Bernar Venet uses a lot of mathematics in his works. http://nicolaanthony.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/a-perfect-synt... He even framed an astrophysics paper o

I'm biased since I do simulations but you're being too harsh on force fields. All the proteins in the paper I mentioned had their structure correctly predicted starting from an extended state. Correct structure and folding time! T

I know a thing or two about the field. Custom hardware for molecular dynamics allows one to simulate longer timescale biological processes, namely the folding of larger proteins. More generally, in the study of any size protein, countless m

Interestingly, custom-made ASICs[1] to perform Folding@Home calculations have also been developed that perform at unprecedented speeds. Of course, there isn't any reason someone outside of academia would be compelled to buy one. [1] h

I think you're referring to the prediction of "secondary structure" of proteins, which was attempted using neural network models as early as 1989. [1] Predicting secondary structure is child's play compared to predicting the folded tertiary
