Carbonated water is very mildly acidic. Sodas (the sweetened ones), which I’m guessing are what GP is mostly referring to (what with the mention of sugar earlier in the paragraph) have sugar, which may encourage the growth of bacteria that

OK, good point. I was kind of thinking of "the 1%". Debating whether to edit and fix, but leaning towards leaving it.

All these "you need to make a gazillion bucks to live a middle class life in SV" articles fall prey to the same fallacy. Comfortable !== Luxury Yes, SV is one of the most expensive places in the country (maybe the world) to live.

Use only elements and CSS properties that were available in 1998. Don’t use tables, which tend to force minimum widths. Don’t use large images. Everything else should reflow automatically.

This. On the flip side, if you're working on a side project you want to monetize but don't want to bother incorporating until you get a bit of traction, then yes, in the interim it can be worthwhile to keep the finances separate i

I love how often the answer to “what was the first time someone did X?” turns out to be several times longer ago than one might have imagined (that Ancient Greek battery seems to have surfaced a couple Times this week too).

Twice (starting new enterprises) if it weren’t for a couple lucky breaks I’d have needed at minimum 18 months. As it was, I burned down about 6 months worth the first time before starting to break even. The second time it both took off and

Yes, 3 or 4 times. Each time I escaped by making sure I had 12 months of (frugal) expenses saved up, and then taking the boldest calculated risk that presented itself. Each time, it’s catapulted my career to a level I’d previously thought u
