If we're talking production, it's still trivially easy to have multiple clusters on the same OS without resorting to virtualization or cloud. As the original post sounded though, it struck me more as a development thing (because w

Both the major parties do it to their advantages. Doesn't really matter what it's "thought of", the reality is that they're both equally guilty.

I guess I could see how that's neat, but for me, I wouldn't want it. I think the computer should organize files for me and I care not where they are on-screen, just that they're organized. (Then again I live in a terminal, &q

Could you explain what is meant by "spatial navigation"? Searching the web for that term and even including "mac" in the search terms doesn't reveal it for me.

Couldn't disagree more. Having a singular app handle all messaging was brilliant and a key feature to bring people over. Apple disallowing competition isn't a good reason to remove something useful for Android users.

The word is overloaded and the implication that emulator means ISA emulation is why Wine for a time adopted that expansion. It still very much emulates the Windows ABI and API. It's original name was "Windows Emulator", even,

There's a lot of redundancy and obsolete stuff in the main repo Wine package. I maintain wine-stable and I have just 45 lib32 dependencies. To compare: Main repo wine: https://github.com/archlinux/svntogit-communit

Wine will report the same free value that df(1) does, and yes this can break old applications' expectation of sizes when it overflows in 32-bit integers. Since I use ZFS and run ~/.wine on its own dataset, I set the quota to 2t an

That registry flag is routinely broken in various versions of Windows and hotpatches to the same version. It's not wise to rely on it.

ext4 isn't really a new file system, it's effectively ext2 with some more features enabled by default than you get with mkfs.ext2. (Yes, this is a simplified version, but not grossly exaggerated.) ext2 was first released in 1993 a

Apple made a pretty big deal about all the rebrands. From "System" (verions 1-7), to "Mac OS" (8 and 9), to "Mac OS X" (10.0-10.7), to "OS X" (10.8-10.12), to "macOS" (10.13+). It was clear
