Yeah I'm afraid that the trickle-down grifters will always cook up some soundbites to knock any no-strings-attached benefits by pushing the freeloader fallacy and people will fall for it. Which brings us back to square one, but without

Does this bode well for the private equity technology sector? Intuitively it would seem that people will be looking for different investment vehicles, and here we are in startup land already working remotely, ahead of the curve. Of course t

Great to see people rallying around possible solutions and spreading the info. Personal anecdote, I was looking up whether to stop occasional cannabis usage as a precaution for a while because it has been labelled an immunosuppressant and a

I like to think of it as all formalisms are tautologies. Therefore we can go along with some common sense and fuzzy logic rather than having to prove every possible axiom, which isn't actually possible or would take unlimited time. It&

Lots of companies are still using it, and although it's not hyped that much anymore, it is much nicer to use than JS or PHP which means dealing with legacy code is less of a headache IMHO. So it will continue to be a money machine for

Yeah I've been doing remote 95% of the last couple years and it takes a toll not being able to be around people at all. Even as a mostly introverted person who needs quiet alone time for solving harder problems and general flow state.

Re America: that sounds like exceptionalism to me. It's not an outlier. A bunch of rich dudes wanted to avoid taxes (fair enough), and to continue slaving and stealing indigenous land. Plenty of countries that used to have dictators (a

Very interested in this. Would like to try it out for an AI framework that combines knowledge graphs with word embeddings and expert systems, and although the Python ecosystem is the de facto standard (despite lack of safety and performance

I wish it were easier to distinguish vaping dry flower from liquids. They aren’t the same but I hate calling my pax a vape for some reason.

What really gets me about this as a sometimes-entrepreneur, is that management is not even taking personal risks. Besides narrow cases of torts and their need to have fiduciary duties, they are no different from other staff workers.

I only know Node and Python well enough. I find with NPM that dependencies are indeed hell because anything goes. With Python it's slightly less bad because packages have a fixed tree of versions (although I don't know what's

Hmmm, so is the prose intending a logical AND? If so it would seem that we couldn't discount the prior quantity of non-duck happiness and would somehow need to hold the two types of happiness in balance. I'm not familiar with Mill

Are you saying the difference between quantity and quality is zero sum, or maybe more like dividing by zero? I feel like Pareto efficiency only comes into the picture if the quantities are actually clear, but I don't understand how to
