I had a couple of side projects running on Firebase until I discovered the open source alternatives. I can self-host on a $10 droplet which makes the costs very predictable

Yes, official support is in the pipeline. There have been some community helm charts in the past ( which might need to be updated )

Not really. Appwrite focuses more on simplicity and a seamless developer experience and the Firebase API is not one of them

Yes, we are working on a more native alternative with the likes of a Makefile or some Ansible scripts. However it has not been a major priority since we didn't have many community members ask for it yet. However, we'd be more than

API keys are used by Server SDKs ( or Admin SDKs in the Firebase world ) to authenticate and perform more crucial server side tasks using the API https://appwrite.io/docs/keys

Hi, at this point the process is not so straight forward and you'll need to use the Admin SDK from Firebase and the Server SDK from Appwrite to manually copy your data over. We do plan on making this easier in the future.
