Nice work, Dan. I don't see many obvious LaTeX books and wonder why more self-publishers don't do it. The learning curve, I guess? I follow your IG and your trip looked like a lot of fun. I dream of the day when my boys will be

Gotcha. I didn't realize LL was a big, national org when I wrote that comment. Knowing this now, my guess is that this form was created at the behest of some big law firm they retained to do this kind of stuff and that these attorney

Don't always assume bad intent with these sports leagues. I helped my son's tackle football league out with various organizational and website tasks because they didn't have anybody on the board that understood it well. So

We should tolerate all speech. That doesn't mean you can't scream and call it hate speech, but do so from your own platform.

^ this I remember telnet-based installers back in the early 1990s that used the pipe-to-sh truck along with shar archives to install things like IRC clients onto your workstation.

Social media is about to take the same trajectory that MP3s once did. Just as we saw the evolution of Napster and IRC trading, the RIAA takedowns, the rise of BitTorrent, and the eventual emergence of streaming services, I believe we will

I didn't do any auto-responders. Frankly, email is kind of dead for p2p comms with friends so there's not many people to inform. Most difficult part I've encountered was getting my dad, who is old, on board. He keeps email

I must say, I concur with this person’s assessment of the Goog-exit feeling. I ditched GMail for Fastmail and my own domain last week. I had been putting this off for years because it seemed like such a massive pain in the ass and I was a

That's a short-sighted statement. On a personal level, I completely agree with you. Facebook is a giant waste of time for the typical user and a big +1 for your life if you ditch it. For many business, however, it's critical.

No doubt that's true on the level of the average user like you and me. What we see for prominent conservatives, however, feels very unfair to me. Perhaps prominent members of other groups are targeted similarly--it wouldn't surp

You clearly never read much about Parler before any of this happened. The founders are most certainly not rioters. They're libertarians who wanted to found a pro-free-speech Twitter. Just because you disagree with someone doesn'

These platforms absolutely do ban or demonetize people for these reasons. Dennis Prager's video on the Ten Commandments was demonetized and the reason given? "It contains the word 'kill'. Dangerous for children."

I remember the hate that closed-source Winmodem got back in the 90s but software-defined modems can be far superior to hardware. Case in point: direwolf. I think it decodes APRS better than any hardware solution. https://github.

Does bupstash support archiving to AWS S3? That's what I love about restic. I can backup my files to cheap cloud storage and I don't have to maintain any offsite server or storage for this to work.
