Very nice! I've been building a drag & drop layer on top of GBDK [1] called GB Studio [2] for making Game Boy games for a few years now. I'm starting to think about how it could support other platforms eventually so this is de

I’ll definitely have a look and see if there’s any advantages. Currently using binjgb in GB Studio and been pretty happy with it https://github.com/binji/binjgb

Nice to see GB Studio get a mention, I’m still working away at it after many years! Definitely going to be checking out NESFab to see what I can learn from it. There’s also been a fork recently called BB Studio adapting it to make NES games

As the creator of GB Studio and a fan of Final Fantasy and Frasier (though can’t bring myself to check out that new season!) this is pretty awesome!

Thanks, one of the things I’ve always tried to do (at work, before I started on GB Studio) is make difficult things seem easy and accessible. Though I’d have also told you this was probably impossible before starting too! I just built it up

As the creator of GB Studio, thanks, really appreciate that! And thanks to binjgb for the excellent emulator. Really cool to see GB Studio being used for this.

If anyone is interested in making their own Game Boy game, I've been working on an open source game maker [0] that adds a UI around GBDK. I'm working on an updated replacement game engine [1] at the moment too that adds, among oth

I really appreciate you taking the time to code review the Redux store! This is some really great advice that I'll definitely be implementing. The project has definitely been a big learning experience :) Very much looking forward to th

I can second that, I’ve just recently started migrating my open source application [0] to use Redux Toolkit and the hooks API (+Typescript) and it’s been a pleasure to use and MUCH less boilerplate than the previous implementation. Thanks f

Looks great, I'm working on a similar kind of project specifically for making Game Boy games. https://www.gbstudio.dev/ I'll definitely have a look at your project for some ideas.

That looks awesome! I noticed that you don't have Game Boy on there, not sure if it's useful to you but I started to make a WebAssembly port of GBDK: https://github.com/chrismaltby/gbdk-emscripten which I was

Hi, sorry for the delay replying, weirdly Electron names the output win32-x64 even though it's only for 64-bit, I think the naming convention is platform (win32) then architecture (x64). Either way I've just built a 32-bit version

Saving/loading is definitely on my todo list. The game I built this for originally was only small and was intended to be finished in one sitting but I’ll be adding support for saving soon.

I believe I just need to assign a colour palette to each sprite and background tile but it’s something I’ve not played around with just yet. I kind of like the simplicity of the original greyscale myself but GBC is a highly requested featur

Oh hey, Hacker News! Just wanted to say I've been really pleased with how this project has been received, wasn't expecting it to blow up this much! My Github issues list is going crazy right now! :-D It's been a side project

Thanks! Yeah it uses GBDK to make real ROMs. It can only make a very specific kind of game right now but it’s early days.

This looks like a great project, reminds me a lot of development for GameBoy using GBDK especially with clipping screen buffers for scrolling. I ended up writing a rough JS implementation of GBDK and used Emscripten so I could debug those k
