> I expect the language to be broad and the enforcement narrow. That's the worst kind of law - you can be locked up at a prosecutors whim. In the UK, it's already illegal not to disclose the key to an encrypted file.

Apologies, you're right. I'm sure this used to work, a few years ago... but I may be getting old.

Likewise, I'm now torn between Rust and Haskell as my "safe" language of choice. ("safe" as in - if it compiles, it runs correctly.) Rust's lifetimes are a bit annoying, its async IO story is woeful, but it do

Has anyone merged Haskell and Scheme, such that I can write strongly typed Haskell code with the (lack of) Scheme syntax, and its macros? (I hope that Template Haskell would make this possible.)

There may be a problem with the "prefix length" parameter. What the user will want to specify is not the proportion off all messages they want to download, but the number or bandwidth. i.e. If subspace has 1,024 users, I might s

Perhaps people are annoyed that DJB does everything his own way, rather than using standard tools? I vaguely remember building DJB's software from source to be non-trivial, but that was a decade ago.

Are you sure about this, I thought HMRC needed a UK VAT registration number?

The MOSS (one stop shop) is only available to VAT-registered entities. Making it available to all would solve the problem for me.

The worst part is that non-VAT registered (because of turnover of less than £70K/~$100K in UK) businesses will have to register for VAT in each of the 28 EU countries they sell to individually (and probably in 15+ non-English languages

Please correct me, if I have misunderstood the new rules. The new rules are very bad for non-VAT registered UK companies which create and sell digital goods. If my company continues selling ( http://www.virtsync.com ) to EU count

Yes, my first paying side-project (virtsync) was the fourth or fifth thing I'd started. I currently have three other ideas I'm working on, but I find it difficult to focus on one.

I wrote virtsync, an alternative to rsync, which performs much better on sparse, GB+ files that don't change much (like VM disk images). http://www.virtsync.com It's a niche product that makes me $1-2K per year. More

Clutching at straws here, but... One use case for 128 bit addressing is for a single-address-space OS running on a cluster. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_address_space_operating_... Pointers can have 32 bits for

Try some non-oop languages (e.g. Haskell, Clojure, Prolog, etc.) They're not so easy to switch between.
