Two things I find very helpful: 1. Hang out online where people talk about new technologies. For me, that's HN, dev.to, and twitter (only works if you follow people doing cool things in tech) 2. Try out new technology by doing _small_

If you're looking to write coding related content - I recommend dev.to as well! It has a lot of the same benefits as medium (built in readership), without all the popups, etc :)

My biggest tips: - Become a "visible expert" in your space. By that I mean give talks at meetups, publish a blog about the technologies you want to work with, etc. - One of the best things I did was to write an ebook about React.

This is a bit out of left field - but I (offhandedly) showed my kid RoboHash: https://robohash.org/ which he thought was _awesome_. He could type in words and generate robots, which is kind of like a super power to a kid.
