This article goes into a lot more detail. It looks like it was just two lines of code. But apparently the codebase actually had backdoors already present. His employer, MSLA doesn't come out looking good. After winning a few lotteries

I think the original title, Iowa man convicted of lottery rigging scheme granted parole, works better. He was a software engineer who worked on rng software for state lotteries. And he was charged with installing code on lottery computers t

I use OpenPilot, which is third party L2 driver assistance sw/hw. I started looking into it after getting into an accident on the freeway. It's amazing for highway driving. You do still have to pay attention, but long trips are mu

I'm just a senior IC, and not at FAANG. But my employer does recruit from FAANG. 0%-20% sounds low for dev work, but the basic description looks somewhat familiar. We don't have project managers, and not all teams have product man

Same. As an IC I like ownership. I'd be fine with most of that list assuming it was related to something I owned. I may not specifically like some task, but I'm fine doing it if it's because I'm the person responsible fo

Yeah, I'm at a startup that's rapidly growing, and is adding more process. I don't feel like it's overmanaged, I don't generally need to pull in my manager or skip. But I can imagine giving a similar response, the m

What would have Trump done if the certification was delayed? He certainly wouldn't have made a public statement that Joe Biden won a fair election and would be president on Jan 20. He's still claiming the election was stolen.

Disagree, I think we are in an extremely dangerous situation. One party tried to stage a coup, and is still claiming the election was stolen. Just because the coupe failed doesn't mean we're safe. Polls show widespread distrust ab

I disagree when talking about public companies. If you are vesting 1MM/yr in equity then you can turn that into cash. The stock price will change, but that just means your comp changes. You may not be able to get that matched, but you

Speeding is straightforward to determine, just check the speed limit and how fast you were going. Reckless driving is a judgement call. Going to far over the speed limit means you'll probably get a reckless driving ticket if caught. Bu
