A word of caution to those readers who might want to try self-medicating: I have used pharmaceutical grade methylphenidate and amphetamines. The former inevitably led to suicidal thoughts and feelings or worthlessness at the end of the day

I kind of agree with both of your points regarding python. It is easy to set up for technologically literate people. But just using a web browser is orders of magnitude simpler for the majority. But really they're two different beast

It's trivial to run R5RS in DrRacket, for example, or other Scheme implementations as well. So it shouldn't really be a problem if R7RS becomes bloated, as you can stay on R5.

I could not do it as well. My monitor is too far away I guess (about 60-70 cm).

In Debian I use "service X action" which I also find preferable for the exact same reason you mention.

This is meta, but you can make the quoted text more readable if you add a newline after some X number of words, like this: Otellini said Intel passed on the opportunity to supply Apple because the economics did not make sense at t

It wasn't behind a paywall for me at least. The article has a sensationalist headline but the content is what you would expect for a discussion about averages and pseudo-random quasi-uniform distributions : the average moves slightly.

Thank you for the reply, I hadn't noticed. My point of view is that I don't care being tracked, as long as I'm paying for said tracking . I browse the web with NoScript, Ghostery, uBlock, AdBlock etc because I don't wan

I actually had an Ask HN[1] with this question but it went completely under the radar. I was hoping for some good discussion! [1]: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=11467942

I don't see it as a moral disgrace at all, but it really is an inconvenience. I have no way of creating this myself, but why doesn't the "Netflix" of journalism exist? Or why can't I just pay X$ more to my ISP, who

I thought the same thing as you at first, as I was a vim+pathogen user. My workflow was working properly but to me it's just much simpler to do a SPC-f-e-d, add 'git' to my packages, then SPC-f-e-R and voila, git support is i

From my poor understanding of GR, there will be no limit on the measurements. You just have to take relative motion into consideration when interpreting them.

I found that on flying East to Asia, I didn't have a choice but to go to sleep around 5-6-7 and wake up at 2AM. Mind and body simply shut down, especially after a ~13h flight.

You're suggesting the author expands the list at least from 28 to 280 logos (or maybe 2800?). What exactly are you expecting to get for free?
