Yeah, no you are not safe. They can mark your domain as premium after you got it and they realise it’s valuable because you made it valuable.

Namecheap does it, happened to one of my domains with them and now I can’t move it. Amazon and Cloudflare does not as far as I know.

Bet you can’t move premium domains there.

I would rather pay a once off high price to acquire a domain than randomly have a domain I have owned for some time get marked as premium and now the price is high every year and I can’t move it around anymore either.

I hate the practice, it’s scummy behaviour. One of my domains got hit by it and now I can’t even move it because it’s market as premium.

Of course it is, automation is very nice, I use it for the handful of machines I have my personal stuff on. I am just saying that from my days as a sysadmin it was usually a years long uphill battle to get approval for automating even minor

Because we decided for some reason that CI builds (the build config) should not be able to be run locally for testing.

I have only encountered one problem that was best solved with a graph style query and I did that in sqlite. So what would likely be nice is a better query language that can compile to sql.

Yep, but in my experience you have to manage about 2000+ machines before management will allow you to spend time on setting up deployment automation. So around the time you are setting multiple new machines a week.

Sure, but most places are not setup to using DHCP on servers or automated installs. So you will be typing in IP addresses through some kind of console to configure the machine in the first place and you will be typing in that IP address in

Any sysadmin for a medium sized company with their own servers are likely to end up having to type in IP address or get them off shitty management consoles that don't support copy paste in any way.

There's a huge difference in the effort required of maintainers (both actual work and cognitive) from just upping the integer size vs what IPv6 is.

I don't need security fixes for Lightroom or Photoshop... Like my camera is not going to start hiding viruses in photos all of a sudden.

With static typing and analysis in the editor there’s no reason to run the code for every second line you write. I usually only need to run it a few times towards the end of writing a feature to see if the compiler or specs catches any erro

I would say Caddy is aimed at small to medium companies. You have a web app/site, no dedicated systems admin and you need a reverse proxy that does the right thing out of the box without you having to learn what the right thing is or h
