Currently the only weakness of envoy is the configuration that’s very much not designed for humans, but an automatic control plane. A tool that could take something like a Caddyfile with good defaults and spit out an envoy config file would

Caddy is super easy to configure and has good defaults. Traefik is nice for a docker host, you can have Traefik configured by labels on containers.

I switched to caddy for my personal stuff quite a while ago due to the easy config. I just have everything in a single Caddyfile (TOML). No idea about performance though as for the one thing that needs it I use Envoy proxy.

There’s a few other people out there who use the same username as me, so I have had to come up with several other usernames.

I really like how Discord handles it. Username + 4 digit number = unique handle, but if nobody else has the same username in a server then you can just use the username to refer to them

Their webpage has this to say about it in the FAQ, so I would say nope. "Within the scope of microkernel operating systems, a multiserver spreads the operating system functionality over multiple user processes. Note how this differs fr

I agree about the general anti social feature sentiment. Collaborative editing makes sense for business users (taking meeting notes) and not much for individuals. That said, the tech that enables collaborative editing is kinda the same that

Oh, no idea, but I am super interested in seeing if Twitter will come out of this a stronger business, fade like MySpace or go up in flames. I am sad that this entertainment is being provided at the expense of other people. This entire thin

Eh, a new hot language typically needs llvm to be available on a platform before it can spit out a binary for it. So it’s really just a matter of reach.

I use Fossil for self hosting code on my own domain, it's running on a fan-less PC with daily backups to the cloud using restic. It's just so nice, no social pressure and it works for me when the internet is down. I am currently i

The iPod Touch and iPhone were both introduced early in 2007. Perhaps you are thinking about the iPod which was released late in 2001.

With jails, I could really use a tutorial that goes through a standard proxy/app/db setup (nginx, wordpress and mariadb maybe?) that does require multiple ip addresses on the physical network. So request comes in to the host on po

Nix is cool tech, but really suffers from a lack of good docs. I tried to use it for dev environments, but it's a struggle and asdf just has the user experience nailed, so I abandoned nix and went with asdf instead.

Yeah, what Docker (and the ecosystem around it) got right is the user experience, it's just second to none. It just doesn't matter that Illumos zones or BSD jails might be technically better when the user experience of Docker is s

Yeah, so I went down the Freebsd rabbit hole last year for my personal hosting and I have some mixed feelings about it. It's a much nicer/less changing environment than Linux, and it's really good for the things it does well.

I don't know much about DNSSEC, it's something I enable to get a green tick in whatever tool I use on the day to check that I configured DNS correctly. But HTTP without HTTPS is useful if you need to go really fast, same goes for
