I used to have one on my network. Then I wanted to use my RPi for some other experimentation and just kind of forgot about it. I run adblockers on my browsers anyway, but been feeling the need to start using pi-hole again recently.

YES! I have switched to it for professional and personal CMS work and it's great. Incredibly flexible and simplistic in my opinion. I use it both as headful and headless.

That makes perfect sense. I used VS Code extensively for many years, and it kept on frustrating me over and over. I still use it on the odd occasion to edit a small script, but for larger projects, I prefer a dedicated IDE.

For both questions, I don't know, probably not. Sorry, I do not understand why you ask this question. Jetbrains' IDEs aren't open source.

No, I said ONE of the reasons. I didn't list every single reason, just some that relates to Microsoft.

This is one of the reasons why I switched to CLion for C++ work, and the fact that VS Code and its derivatives was a pain to configure for C++. I also use PHPStorm for web dev work and we use MS DevOps at work and that extension is unstable

100% agree with you, my sentiment is the same. Some time ago I considered making the LLM create tests for me, but decided against it. If I don't understand what needs to be tested, how can I write the code that satisfies this test? We

I've disabled AI in my IDE after trying Jetbrains' AI Assistant for a couple of months. I don't like it and I think relying on LLMs to get my job done is dangerous. Why? I feel less competent at my job. I feel my brain becomi

Absolutely with you on the abuse of LLMs. I'm deeply concerned about loss of competence and I am so burned out from having to deal with other people's messy and overly complex code. I think people who think about this like us need

Yes! I have a certain personality preference for abstractions and tend to understand things in an abstract manner which is extremely difficult for me to articulate in natural language.

I like your take. The only issue I have with trusting a computer to do so much is that it doesn't necessarily have the long term vision or intuition some humans might have for the direction of the software product. There's so much

I would love to get a ThinkPad as my next computer. My 2018 MacBook Pro is still working amazingly well, but I think I won't get a new one.

This article resonates with me. I have neighbours that have been renovating for the past 6 months (free-standing house) and the noise is unbearable, it causes physiological responses in my body and great anxiety. Another neighbour has a gar

Same. I absolutely hate using Chrome dev tools. It's because of the dev tools I still use Firefox.

It makes working with a complex Angular enterprise application less painful. I hate Angular with a passion.

I built a small SaaS, mostly for myself, around OpenAI's API to quickly generate and store all of my web page meta descriptions for blogs. Right now I am adding a couple of features as well as improvements to the UI and I want to make

Not where I live. It takes days for stuff to get delivered, and if I need something within the hour, I can just drive to the store, which is less than 5km from my house. I try to do my shopping in one go, but life just doesn't work out

I literally cannot walk or ride a bike where I live. I will get robbed and/or killed and the weather doesn't play nice. Distances to places I need to go are also quite lengthy. Ordering stuff online doesn't solve the problem,

I was about to comment the same thing. Managers might interpret this in the totally wrong way and will probably end up using this against employees, like "you're not coding enough" and dump more work on you. Knowledge work, e

I used Jetbrains' AI Assistant for a while and I made the mistake of trusting some of its code, which introduced bugs and slowed me down to double-check a lot of the boilerplate I had it write for me. Really not worth it for me at this
