I helped build a house out of spare wood for a family friend. It was really exciting to see it come together and to think that this wasn't just a random side project, but something that would be lived in and greatly appreciated.

I saw Rob Pike talk about Go, and he gave the impression its being used on a rather wide variety of systems related programming inside of google. I don't know of any particular projects though.

In the video linked from the article, they mention that they are going to pump the outgoing water around the complex back to the sea and it will be nearly the same temperate as the sea water when it reaches back. I imagine they are going to

Yeah but we're not talking about less restrictive licenses, we're talking about linux and the gpl and the fact that zero of the changes from android have made it back upstream into the kernel. Dirk Hohndel from MeeGo made a good point at OS

I strongly suspect BigTable is one of the primary reasons they don't want to open source the current release seeing as they mentioned using a Mongo DB backend.

I just downloaded this and tried it out. Amazingly cool. Only about a 15s delay to broadcast live from your phone. There is a lot of potential to really change online videos and news/live events as well. Very exciting.

I work at various coffee shops at least 2-3 times a week usually for a full day. I would easily have to file for minimum 3 different coffee shops a year. This bill is absolutely ridiculous.

White noise and soft lights are amazing. The trick is to find something that simulates being in the womb for the baby. I have one recommendation that you absolutely _must_ get. Best investment I've ever made: http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-P

Sad to say that vi/vim has not been installed on every *nix box I have used. Its not installed on freenas by default, which I have running on a box. My mind was blown when I realized it didn't have at least vi.

So wait, in his first post, "aleph (~8.5K req/s) edges out Node.js v.0.1.100 (~7.0K req/s)" which was with one node.js process on one core. Node.js scales fairly linearly (from what I've seen) as you add additional processors and processes,

I'm curious to read more about Membase, their current homepage is rather sparse and lacking in content, but one of the things that really intrigues me about Membase is how they are adding a persistence layer on top of Memcached that gradual
