At least some gaming companies have realized that launching on windows, osx and linux just means that anyone and everyone can play your game. I'm a big fan of Heroes of Newerth, which plays great on my linux box, but it also runs on osx and

I'm surprised no one mentioned evernote. They released an android app a while back, very useful. I use it a lot for keeping track of receipts for invoices and various things I want to take a picture of and return to.

I'm in a similar situation, I've got a decent pool of apps running on the same framework that only differ in config and static files. The approach I took is using the ruby gem compass and sass. I moved any sass variables into a skin.sass fi

They may break even on the numbers, but the apps are one of the biggest features and selling points for an iphone. Apple even knows this too, when was the last time you saw an iphone commercial that didn't say 'there's an app for that'?

Oh damn... I thought it might be an extension to remove ipad and apple stories from the front page... although that could leave it pretty empty.

I think one of the big issues with the evolution of languages is the inherit complexity and time commitment involved in creating a language. I'm very intrigued by languages that run on VMs and provide you with an underlying platform to work

Glad to see a vimcasts site, more perspectives on vim are always welcome. I saw in the comments that you're using randiant cms, one thing you might want to check out is that the source code for railscasts.com is open source and is a pretty

I use this all the time. Its the best way I've found to deal with the hassle of the rails migrations naming scheme. vim db/migrate then I can easily find the file I'm looking for and quickly open other migration files for reference.

Good, now if google would only take this idea and apply it to their search. I want full text search on page contents not on the epic tag cloud or other random junk in the sidebar.

I used to be just like this, (and still am in some ways) where I am most productive at night. I enjoy the peace and quiet when no one is around to bother you. During the day there are endless distractions but at night that all goes away. As

I disagree with this post. If you are so personally threatened by someone asking what your weaknesses are, then I guess I understand your reaction. But personally I just view that as another question relating to your experience. For instanc

Screen casts are usually hit or miss for me, but I have really enjoyed watching railscasts.com. I have learned a lot from those screencasts and I find that its easier to grep screencasts after you are more familiar with the authors style.

I'm sorry, the compass screencast was informative and interesting, but it was a marathon screencast that I lost focus on at least 17 times before it finally finished.

Always fun to hear about great hackers in other fields. I loved reading about the anecdotes of Richard Feynman in his books, and this article struct a similar chord with me.

I've got that cheat sheet saved on my computer and I've looked at it several times before, but today was the first time I realized that you can hit '&' to repeat the last :s command on the current line. Very slick!!

Wow, according to that link a "Class A felony (murder)" has a fine of up to $20,000, but he's getting fined $22,500 per song? That's disgusting. The tyranny of the RIAA has gone on long enough.

Fact of the matter is OSX 'just works' better than anything else _I_ have personally used. Less hassles, less issues, less crashes than linux or windows. And when you have lots of people saying the same thing, its not 'high ground' its a re
