Huge difference between running a graphics card at 100% capacity (ok, most eth miners underclock but still use a good amount of wattage close to 100% of the time) and someone playing a video game for a few hours after work one day. Nowhere

They have nothing to do with each other though. Alinea isn't really involved in tech... They have a Tock but that's it. The groups owner is the CEO of Tock, but I don't think that means that Alinea itself (and its name) is he

College kids often just took an algorithms course. Experienced devs have to brush up on this stuff to jump through the hoops while also managing their day job and any other commitments. I do a lot of hiring at a "big n" company an

It also leads to a ton of clients who freak out when their app suddenly goes offline because they forgot to update the pinned cert. Seen that one countless times. Pinning has uses, but if I'm running an app, I'm not doing pinning

Saddens me how far the site has fallen. The abysmal mobile experience shoehorning you into using their low quality app is frustrating. It makes sense, need to monetize and appeal to the average internet user, but it bums me out there isn&#x

Stadia is supported in 21 countries though. A majority of NA and EU. Totally feel for you, but similar to anything that requires a decent internet connection, NZ and AUS get left in the dust

Does this come up in practice? What kind of use cases suffer from disk latency? This stuff is all fascinating to me. I have a zfs NAS but I feel like I've barely scratched the surface of SSDs

Most folks that I know in Seattle didn't think that CHOP/CHAZ was a good thing, and one of their leaders Raz Simone was heavily criticized for being... well, dumb to put it lightly. It's okay to criticize both things here. CH

Doesn't look like traffic is being routed through Russia, as the first tweet implies. They are using DDOS-Guard, which routes over Telia. In my (US) traceroute, traffic never leaves the states

Buddy said the same is true at Amazon. There are some locked down repos but a vast majority of everything is open for any engineer to see. Leaks are possible, no doubt. But yeah, prison.

If it's this good according to folks already, I cant wait to see what gen2 looks like. Not a big apple fan but I'll be closely looking at the next generation of these in a year or so.

Yeah, I fully think that a social network that doesn't censor the calls to burn police stations should be banned. I don't care what side it's from, enticing violence on a large scale isn't okay.

Regardless of my/your thoughts on Parler, godspeed to those engineers. Assuming a majority of Parler infra is hosted on AWS, and it wasn't built to be multi-cloud, moving hosting providers in ~36 hours seems like a herculean task.
