Keep in mind we're talking about a company's culture. It's completely plausible that what I'm saying is a better explanation than it being "objectively great".

Don't get mad because it adequately explains the truth.

Are you deliberately missing the point? The point is that in this world of billions, there are enough who will like the way Google works to imply that Google is NOT doing anything special.

You're missing the point. But that's OK.

Numbers on both sides. Just because they have thousands of employees out of billions of people means nothing special about their process/culture. There are likely to be thousands of people in the world who are fine with it.

Ooh this seems really cool, wonder if you can take SQLite bytecode and convert it to LLVM bytecode and execute natively. Edit: oh that's what they do haha

The advantage of $1000 unconditional is that they can move to a city with a lower cost of living. And who cares about illegal immigrants in this regard... They're there illegally

It's not a dataset, remember, they don't want this information out there.

And I thought it was S-Q-lite. S-Q-L-ite makes sense though. Most consistent.

Been in both situations and did a lot of research on what was possible negotiating. There is public information out there which they try to suppress (imagine if the public knew that the guy who owed 10 mill, got away paying 5 mill after yea

My experience with tax collectors is that they pursue those owing between 10K-500K intensely. Once it gets into 7-8 figures, you can VERY easily pay proportionately less than the poor suckers caught in the 10-500K net.

Yes, that the drills are misguided. And he is fine with the obsession with guns, suggested using palm/grip recognition to tie guns to owners with free updates paid for by govt. Reasonable.

I'm not so sure that rate of medical bankruptcies is the metric I'd use to measure the healthcare system! But point taken.

So _why_ if it works for 80% of polled people does it keep being touted as it resulting in bankruptcy consistently?

Exactly, a lot of people assume that any of those options aside from the strict layering is "unclean" code. Clean code is code that is easy to read, easy to modify and more or less DRY. The rest is dressing.

Keeping code clean doesn't mean architectural perfection. It means architectural consistency. So, if your controllers talk directly to your database, great! Just make sure it's easy to do and doesn't involve too much boilerpl

I don't particularly like the name defer. It seems to operate similarly to Boost ScopeExit but the name does not imply that.

Main problem I have is captions from Netflix don't work which is important for me. Would have been nicer if we could have popped out a div instead.
