In order to replace natural gas with 100% hydrogen the entire transmission and distribution network would need to be replaced as it needs to run at different pressures. In the UK we are starting to trial blended gas. I do not think we can a

I am not sure any computer is capable of sending and processing 2^126 packets (assuming global unicast, 1 packet out, 1 packet in) in under 5 minutes.

Do you use an SSL proxy to catch unwanted requests to CDN's like Cloudflare that would otherwise be allowed?

I just do not understand it either. When I want some protection I use tor. I would never trust a paid vpn service.

I am not happy with the design of ESNI as in its current form it is not straightforward to implement as it relies on dns hackery. I would rather instead that the outer tunnel be encrypted using a cert for the IP address, and the inner tunne

Perhaps they need to be reminded of what happened when RSA/NSA backdoored Dual EC. Eventually a foreign power discovered it and used it for their own intentions.

Nokia were doing well developing their new platform Meego based on Linux, but then Stephen Elop came from Microsoft and decided to put a stop to it and instead concentrate on Windows Phone. I believe that is what ultimately killed Nokia

My suggestion would be that enabling automatic package updates should require a public key that the author uses to sign their tarballs, or at least check in a signature to the repository if not using tarballs.

To use this service you either have to pay Hippobase or AWS (excluding the 3-month free trial which would not be much use for production).

I am getting frustrated by the increase of hn articles about "self-hosting" yet the software described is reliant on a cloud service. To me, "self-hosting" means I can use it on my own computer, without a connection to t

On that basis, I am saving $90,000 a year by having a dedicated server from Hetzner (running a Tor relay). If I could afford that, I would pay off my mortgage in a couple of years.

It is disappointing to see GMT conflated with UTC. It is not "UTC plus zero hours". GMT is based on solar time, wheras UTC is based on TAI. UTC is TAI corrected (with leap seconds) to match GMT. Hopefully I have got that right.
