One killer feature could be some form of ransomware protection. If a sudden entropy change is detected, snapshot the data, then provide the customer with the option to revert changes from that time (up to, say, a week).

I think the weak point is their domain name. I think cloud providers should have a second domain, with a different registrar and managed sompletely independently, so that if one is subject to a problem (hijacking, dns outage, etc) clients c

My biggest concern is that the key's software is updatable. I would have preferred to have an efuse I could blow to make the keys completely read-only.

As far as I can tell, Orkut was the original incarnation of a modern social network, but they failed to capitalize on it.

Most of QUIC is already supported by SCTP, which could have made IPv6 an even more attractive proposition because the reason SCTP has been poorly adopted is because of the number of middleboxes, mostly for NAT.

I use Gandi which supports 2FA, but annoyingly they do not let you disable TOTP if you want to use U2F.

There is also an alternative being developed here: https://almalinux.org/ which will be well financed by a company with years of experience.

I respect the years of work that have gone into autotools, and the vast ecosystem of projects it has made possible, but nowadays I use cmake whenever possible, mainly because it can generate ninja build files. It would be great to see autot

That sounds very familiar. My company deployed a patch so that their webmaps continues working after flash became end of life. We still use 10.2.1 for most things. Thankfully I have ArcGIS Pro on my laptop. I had to move heaven and earth to

Can this be self-hosted, or does it depend on a 3rd party service? I am extremely anxious about depending on a company that could go out of business, or maybe even worse, acquired by someone else and subject to bait and switch price rises,

Debian was responsible for one of the, if not the, biggest security disasters in Linux distributions' history. A Debian developer thought they knew better than the OpenSSL developers and made a change that compromised every SSH and SSH

Regarding your second point, during a pandemic, banning someone from the internet in 2021 could cause harm. Instead of being able to have essential items (food) delivered, one would have to expose themselves to the virus by mingling in a sh

I have 4 keys which are stored safely. I do not want a fallback mechanism because that reduces the security of my account. The downside is I have to manage my keys on each site separately. It is a shame that the original OpenID never stuck

Hopefully this will spur on some competition. I could be tempted to use a Chromium-based browser if I could easily store my data in Nextcloud.

The only thing that matters is what sounds best to you. You should place them where they sound best for your listening position. This is not a scientific process. It is a trial and error process.

I miss when OpenID was a thing and I could run my own iDP, but that didn't catch on because everyone wanted to be the iDP and not an RP. These days it's a cabal of a few big companies.

Disappointingly the article does not contain the word "backup" anywhere. I would have expected a journalist to ask if they were able to restore the data from a backup, and if not, why not?

The only way to stay on Qt 5.x (as Qt 6.x is not yet ready for production use since the ABI is not stable and many modules like QtWebEngine are missing) would be to fork it, since they will no longer accept patches from the community. Eithe

I can attest to Hetzner. I pay €35 per month for a dedicated server, and one of the things I run is a (non-exit) Tor relay, which consumes 3.5TiB per day on average.
