The irony is, these companies that operate trust lists accept zero responsibility in the case you are defrauded using a certificate issued by a CA they deem trustworthy.

It is a lovely idea for a new company but I cannot see a big company changing its ways, especially one with a natural monopoly that has no actual competition. Another issue I see is people just giving recognition to their friends, not those

They have already collected the data. The issue now is whether or not to make the data available to third parties, albeit anonymized.

I have been following along and so far filed a couple of minor issues on github. This is a very very good book and does well to explain the various mechanics. Thanks!

This makes me think that the package containing the trusted certificate list ought to be separated into a standalone repository, so that it is easy to change (like how you subscribe to an adblock list).

I have 2 keys, one stored in a safe place. They are cheap enough that you can have several, but then it becomes a challenge to keep your various accounts up to date. I wish that openid was still well supported as I would like to have one au

Another basic feature they refuse to implement is sorting search results (e.g. newest first).

I would no more trust a Google ad blocker than I would trust a thief to fit my locks.

Hopefully this is a step towards QtWebEngine (Blink) on the open source distribution of Qt on Windows. Right now you are limited to QtWebKit.

There is a lot of mp3 media out there, but I would encourage people to use Opus[1] where possible. [1] http://opus-codec.org/comparison/

I do this, but the downside is, if I lose one I have to go through each service removing both tokens (because some services do not tell you which is which) then adding the existing (not lost) token with the new one. This is making me wish f

The benefit of U2F to me is that it is a hardware token. I would never use a software token when I can use a hardware token.

Coincidentally I set up 2FA on Amazon yesterday. I am disappointed they do not give you backup codes, nor do they support FIDO U2F. I made sure to keep a copy of the secret token in case anything happens to my phone I can set it up again. T

Thanks for sharing! It seems that computer systems have regressed heavily from decades ago when every keystroke resulted in an instantaneous action, even with hundreds of simultaneous users. I miss those days of simple tui's.

Even UTC can be ambiguous when it comes to leap seconds. I don't know any major DBMS that can correctly store a leap second event in a standard datetime column. Perhaps the answer is to standardize on miliseconds since 1958 (19580101T0

It sounds like if you run a web server, you should think about only supporting TLS 1.3 with no downgrade support, to ensure security without the possibility of your visitors' being subject to interception by a third party (even if it i
