I don't think you can do you own testing like you suggest. You can self declare but you still need to include test data in that declaration so unless you happen to own all of the highly expensive calibrated test equipment you will need

Out of interest, what's your issue with LibreOffice? The only issue I have with it is when you need to open documents made in MSOffice. Otherwise, it does everything MSOffice does and faster with less cloud/AI crap. Reminds me of

That's not bad compared to Bluetooth. Also, you will need FCC cert by law and probably some UL certs if you actually want to sell you product anywhere so you are already looking at 10s of thousands even if you choose ZigBee. I would lo

It doesn't seem to say 100B a year. So presumably a business selling spoons will also eventually achieve AGI. Also good to know that the US could achieve AGI at any time by just printing more money until hyperinflation lets openai hit

I just have a bash script that runs on startup which just greps the output of xrandr to determine if I am connected to home/office/no monitors and then runs the appropriate xrandr commands to config them. On the occasion when I (d

Hey Felipe, this looks really clean. I'll give you some first impressions I had and hope they ate useful. What is this app on? Is it just a website or is it a mobile app? Is it going to work offline? What does "decorating cards&qu

Their pricing model is confusing. There is a one off purchase for + and then a seperate monthly charge for pro. Some features are in both, some are just in one or the other and there doesn't seem to be any logic as to what features go

An important thing to mention is that OSMAnd has multiple (somewhat confusing) paid tiers. Since its FOSS you can presumably just compile it yourself if you wanted to bypass the paywall (the ethics of this are left as an exercise for the re

It feels like all this is because the point of school/college/university is just to get a piece of paper rather than to earn skills. Why wouldn't you get chatgpt to write your essay when your only goal is to get a passing gra

Not OP but there's a difference between needing to ask more questions and asking more questions because its easier now. Personally, I find myself often asking AI about things I wouldn't have been bothered to find out about before.

Do you have a source for x86 taking x10 the energy? I generally hear that Arm is something like 30-40% more power efficent which lines up with my experience that Arm laptops don't have 10x more battery life than x86 ones. In any case,

Surely the e-waste from discarding an x86 Windows computer you could have put Linux on out-weighs the power benefit of Arm/RISC-V. Also seems like you would discourage people who cannot afford new hardware from moving from a closed sys

I don't really understand this. Surely working 8 hour days just means that it takes you 50% longer to write the same software (in reality less than that since I don't imagine you will be working at peak efficiency in hour 12). Pas

I think a key piece of context to Kovid's distain of tmux is how good window management is in kitty. I regularly have at least ten terminals open and navigating them is a breeze. I previously lived in tmux but much prefer this. The ses
