Yeah. I'm a freelance journalist and this is one of the worst journalism takes I've seen in a while. Paying bills is already hard enough as it is and I, like many others in this industry, don't even have health insurance: why

Yeah and government agencies do the same all the time to avoid information release through public record laws. Don't want a pesky journalist poking in your emails? Just CC the staff lawyer and all those emails need to be redacted. It g

This is what I do to get rid of books. There are a few near my home, so if I go for a walk around the neighborhood I'll bring a book to dropoff. It's really interesting to see which books stay and which books leave. Nobody's

"Simulated" doesn't explicitly mean "in a computer" by default. A "simulated test environment" can also mean "a robot in a physical field simulating a war". The choice of language is deeply misle

A lot of assumptions are lost when "accidental explosions" is a genuine factor. It doesn't help that the article has quotes like, "It killed the operator because that person was keeping it from accomplishing its objectiv

The article and your comment are confusing and it's still not entirely clear what happened. Did an operator lose their life? Was this article written to be intentionally confusing?

Not exactly going to disagree with you there. Just felt it was an important question to ask considering the rigidity of their comment.

I followed some steps to prevent firefox from being installed through snap... it worked (after WAY too long troubleshooting).... and sometime between then and now it re-enabled itself and I'm back to square one. It's so maddening.

Came to the same conclusion over the past year. If they got rid of snap, I'd stay. But god damn snap is such a poorly implemented nuisance. It feels barely out of alpha.

I'm not disputing that it doesn't prevent a subset of the same class of problem. It's just a wholly incomplete solution to the OpenBSD implementation to the degree that it's disingenuous to say netbsd already implemented

A random sleep of up to 60 seconds doesn't really solve the problem the OpenBSD changes do, especially when your jobs take longer than 60s. For example, instead of "0-59/10" in the minutes field, "0~59/10&q

I'm confused by your post since for one, I never suggested a solution.. but also your post seems to be calling the removal of accreditation silly, but also calling accreditation nonsense. So you seem to be conflicted?

What's wrong with people being upset that in order to play the game they have to install low level kernel modules? It's flawed software that hits an ant with a sledgehammer. Adding to injury, tons of reports online of people getti

Not saying this is a "good" reason, but there are indeed people who have decided this is what they want. There's a man who wanted his hand/wrist cut off so that his arm could be grafted in a way that turns his arm into

The worst I've seen on reddit's front page (on mobile) was an auto-played video of a kid playing with a gun, accidentally shooting her brother in the head, then taking her own life without hesitation. It happened within seconds se
