OS/2 is one of the only operating systems that I know of where a version successor actually had lower hardware requirements (assuming you already had a 386. If you were on a 286 then not much changed) than the version it replaced. Yo

I was 15 when the dot-com bubble burst, and I had been following all the hype and madness avidly. Where I lived, our cable provider had ZDTV (later TechTV), and I watched that network all the time. Something you'd hear endlessly was th

I'd love to hear more about you working with Benoit Mandelbrot. I hope you find time to write your book someday.

What is "interesting" obviously depends on the person. I always liked playing with old *nix workstations from the 90's. Something about tinkering on a box that would have cost over $50,000 new is interesting to me.

In 2018 I bought a Sony A99II to use with my old Minolta A-mount lenses. I have a hunch it is going to be the last A-mount camera they ever make. If/when I buy another camera body, it will be an E-mount and I'll use an adapter to

I've used Junk King before when moving and I had way too much stuff to deal with. I filled up an entire truck (furniture, mattress, tons of old computers and other ewaste) and I think it cost me about $400. Considering how much time an

I have to use a secure Windows laptop for work, but I admin Linux servers. WSL has been great for me, if only so that I can use a real linux command line and terminal instead of PuTTY when I SSH into boxes.

Best quote from the author's article explaining how it was done (even though by his own admission he didn't follow his own advice in the case): "If you want to make a game, make a game. If you want to make a game engine, make

I use them after every shower, so basically every day. In my experience, there's never enough build up for there to be anything to push in and get impacted.

I don't find the idea very funny or entertaining. If you have a funny parody show or something, it should be funny and entertaining without deep fakery. This seems like a gimmick that won't last long. Maybe it will do some good in

When I first learned about the Minitel, most things I found online just said it was done to reduce the cost of printing and shipping phone books. That never sounded right-- very interesting to hear more of the actual story.
